FAQ

What is power Yoga?

We’re so glad you asked. At Yoga Heart Kenya, we are all trained and certified Baptiste Instructors. Baptiste Yoga was founded in the 1940s by Walt Baptiste, and then his son, our teacher, Baron Baptiste. It is adaptable and accessible for everyone and anyone, vinyasa-based style yoga, that intelligently strengthens, stretches, and empowers. We will guide you through a potent physical practice, meditation, and active self-inquiry, where you get the tools to transform every area of your life and live to your fullest potential. In short: it’s a game-changer.

Do you have showers?

Yes. we also have towels to rent.

What is the parking situation like?

It’s ideal. Parking is in the garage under the main building at Kenrail Towers. The main entrance of the building and the parking area both have a security check. The parking is free and easy to access from rear side of the building.

I’m a beginner. Can I still take class?

Yes! Our classes are accessible to everyone, making your own practice adaptable to where you’re at. From the never-exercised-before newbie to professional athletes. Our teacher, Baron, says it best: “Come as you are, not as you should be."

Its my first class. What do I need to know?

Nothing! Just show up 10-15 minutes to sign a waiver and flow through the space. Let us take care of the rest. There are some tips listed in the new students tab.

I don’t have a mat

No problem! We have everything you could possibly need for rent or purchase: mats, towels, and water.

How many times a week should I practice?

For good results, 3-4 days a week. For life-changing results 5-6 days a week.

What if I am not flexible?

It’s a common misconception that yoga is about contorting your body. In fact, Vinyasa Yoga is a system of breathing that encourages adaptation and modification to accommodate each of us as we are. Flexibility is not a goal, or a prerequisite of yoga; it is a by-product. As Carl Rogers says "the curious paradox is that when I accept myself just the way I am, then I can change." The spirit of flexibility gives you physical malleability. The attitude of strength gives you real muscle.
